Just over a week until...
 Hello, hello, hello!

Iana here again  It's become pretty cold outside at night so I hope you are all taking care and being careful not to catch a cold.
I also hope you are all slowly getting into the holiday spirit... A week has passed since my previous blog entry and we here at ECM are now almost finished decorating both the school in Kudamatsu as well as the one in Shunan. As you can see, even this blog's background has been changed to match the holiday theme.  Next week is the last one with normal English classes...Because from December 10th we'll start having the special Christmas lessons!  Yay!  It's what all of us English teachers at ECM are now busy preparing for. So please wait a little bit longer.
Also, as some of you have been telling me during classes, it seems most high school students will have tests starting next Wednesday. So to all of our students who are now busy studying and preparing  - please work hard and hang in there.
To end this blog entry on a holiday spirit note - it was my first time teaching in Shunan this week so I bring you a glimpse of the Christmas decorations we put up there.

~Iana.

P.S.: Just in case you were wondering... The two books you see on the table in the picture are albums with photos from the special Halloween lessons that took place at the Shunan ECM School last month. We have several albums with photos from the Halloween classes at the Kudamatsu ECM Office as well. Feel free to stop by and have a look. You can order any pictures that you like and we will print them out for you.

28 days till Christmas!
 Hello again!

I hope you've all been enjoying the beautiful fall leaves, they'll be gone soon and winter will be here!  With winter comes Christmas and here at ECM we've begun to decorate the classrooms and prepare for our two weeks of Christmas lessons.  Christmas is one of my favourite times of year (after Halloween :) so I'm really looking forward to teaching you all about it and having a lot of fun.  I also hope you can teach me about the most popular Japanese holiday, oshogatsu.  Until next week, take care!

Ziggy

Nice to meet you!
Hello!

My name is Iana and I'm a new English teacher at ECM. I arrived in Kudamatsu almost two weeks ago and began teaching this Monday. To those of you whom I've already met - thank you for telling me so many things about yourselves, it was SO interesting!  And to those who I will meet for the first time next week - I'm very excited to get to know everyone so I look forward to it.

To briefly introduce myself, I'm 27 years old and come from Russia. I can speak four languages: Russian, English, German and some Spanish. Learning foreign languages is one of my hobbies. Not long ago I've begun learning Japanese so I plan to work hard on it during my time here in Kudamatsu. My other hobbies include traveling, knitting and photography.  In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies, going shopping and attending live concerts.

Some of you may wonder why I came to Japan. Well, I've been to Japan several times before as a tourist and I really liked it here. I was fascinated by the beautiful nature, unique culture, great food and kind people. I find the Japanese language very beautiful as well. I hope to learn more about Japan and understand its culture better while living here.

~Iana.

P.S.: Today is Thanksgiving day in the USA.  It's a holiday when families get together, eat turkey and pumkin pie, and thank God for all the good things that happened this year. Also, Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the Christmas season in America. At ECM we too have already begun decorating the school and planning special Christmas activities for all of you! Please look forward to it.

Halloween Costume Contest
 Hello again!

Halloween is long finished, but we have finally finished judging the Halloween costume contest participants.  Congratulations to those who won and thank you for joining.  The lucky winners received a certificate, and chocolates, as well as a few other goodies.  We decided to judge based on how cute the costume was, how funny, and the most fun.  Congratulations again to those who won, now it's time to look forward to Christmas!

I thank you all for your kindness and patience during my time at ECM. It was really nice meeting everyone. I enjoyed being your teacher. All of you are very special to me and I will miss the students very much. This year has been a lot of fun and a great experience.

Good luck to everyone. I hope that you continue to enjoy your English classes with Iana-sensei and Tzigane-sensei.
Happy holidays to you and your families. Have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! Goodbye and good luck!

So long... Raashida
