Working hard
Good evening everybody!

How are you? It was VERY chillly tonight as I walked home from work, so fall is slowly rolling in for real now. Please be careful and dress warmly, as I've been seeing many of you with runny noses lately. ;)

This week has been another BUSY week at English Club May. We're slowly approaching October, which marks the first major Western holiday celebrated here at ECM. This means that all the staff are getting more and more busy preparing for the upcoming holidays, both Halloween and Christmas. This is why in most of my classes this week I began asking students about their favorite Western and Japanese holidays. The winners in both categories are pretty clear already: Christmas & Oshogatsu respectively. When asked why, students mostly said that it's the Christmas presents and Otoshidama money that attract them! :D :P

As for myself, in addition to work I've also been busy with some bureaucratic things lately in an attempt to prepare for staying another year in Japan. Namely, today I went to try and get a Japanese driver's license, but without any luck. :( However, I don't plan on giving up just yet. Instead, I'll try it again tomorrow. So please wish me luck! :)

~Iana.

Hello everyone!
Welcome to another week,

I hope you're all feeling well and doing okay. This past week was a busy one filled with Undou-kai's and other exciting things.

Students have told me they've been busy during the past week doing a myriad of things such as taking trips to amusement parks like Space World and taking trips to scenic places with their families here in Yamaguchi-ken.

Many people have said they are feeling much better now that the average temperatures outside have become cooler.  That's good to hear.

I for one am looking forward to having a great fall season, and seeing more great progress from all of our hard working students while they improve their English.

I think it's It's a great time to be at here ECM.

Enjoy your week!
Hope to see you again soon,
Take care,
Andre

Busy, busy, busy
Hi there!

How have you been? Doing good I hope. The scary typhoons that are wrecking some parts of Japan and that I see on the news almost every weekend seem to be missing Kudamatsu, thankfully. So let's enjoy this good luck and take advantage of the great weather we've been having! :)

Looking back on the week, here at ECM everyone's been working hard as always. I myself have been pretty busy with a bunch of different things, both work and private. Hence the topic of this blog. Just this week in one of the classes we learned the word "busy". As one of the techniques for helping students memorize it the textbook had a song called "Busy every day". So the topic of my blog is actually part of a line of that  song. It goes: "Busy, busy, busy everyday. Busy, busy, busy I can't play." :D

And to end on a positive note, as always, below is a pic of some new games you all can look forward to. ;) My parents sent them to me from America a couple weeks ago and they've finally arrived on the weekend. So let's enjoy playing them in class together! =)

Hi again everyone!
Welcome to another week! I hope you are all doing great and had a great weekend!
including yesterday's holiday Respect for the aged day.   As the temperatures cool off it seems like we are truly fortunate indeed to be spared of the latest Typhoon that came over the weekend.  So far so good, but since I've been here I've seen a few major typhoons.  The biggest and most devastating one I've been stuck in was typhoon Jelawat a few years ago.  Hopefully we won't see any storms that strong any time soon.
In the meantime enjoy the cooler temperatures, and try to stay "cold and flu"-free.
By dressing warm when you need to.

Lastly on an English learning note, congratulations to all the students that moved up to another level recently and I'd also like to extend a warm welcome to all the students that joined ECM recently.

Enjoy your week this promises to be a great fall season at ECM.

Well that's all for now,
Until next time,
Take care,
Andre

What`s new
Good afternoon!

How are you? The weather`s been pretty nice lately so I hope you`re doing well and enjoying these last days of warmth and sunshine. This is my first typhoon season in Japan so I didn`t know what to expect, but so far I`m more than happy with the weather we`ve been having this September. :)

As mentioned in my previous blog, fall has officially started so in most of my classes this week I`ve been asking students what seasons they like or dislike and why. Fall was actually a pretty popular choice due to its nice cool weather and the lack of hay fever problems that plague some people in spring. Another topic we discussed thoroughly in class this week was Sports Day. Some of the students have already had theirs last weekend and many others will have them in the coming weeks. So for those of you who already finished their undokais, congratulations & great job! :D And to those who are still practicing - please do your best & good luck! ;)

On a more English-related note, I just wanted to remind those of you interested in taking the Eiken test on October 12th at ECM that the deadline for applying is tomorrow. So if you want to give it a try please feel free to drop by our office and sign up. And last but not least, here`s yet another picture of an omiyage we received from one of our younger students this week. Her family bought it for us during their trip to Hiroshima. THANK YOU! =)

~Iana.
